2010 Fido Calendar
Fabulous Furry Friends

July 13th update...
Going, going.... almost gone!
1. Closed: May and December.
2. Nearly closed: January and June, 94%. January used to be the least-
filled month; it abruptly became popular. These months can accommodate
one small only: first come, first served.
3. November (88%), April (75%): Perhaps one or two mediums apiece,
and small. Closed for large
4. July and August (Both 69%) can accommodate perhaps one large
apiece, or a mix of medium and small
5. February (56%), September (56%), October (56%) and March (50%) can
still accommodate a full range of sizes.
The calendar is about three quarters filled overall. Profound thanks
to the FIDO community whose support with picture donations will defray
much of the cost of printing. About $ 1,360 has been tendered; an additional $100.00 has been pledged. The deadline for all requests is Midnight, Saturday, August 1; requests will be accepted and pictures taken during the Saturday morning Coffee Bark. We strongly recommend not waiting for this last session; do as much as possible on-line. Full details available under the follow-on link.
Take care, Garry Osgood,
Calendar committee.
If you have particular dates or sizes in mind; you can email a request anytime and donate on-line with JustGive, or email a request and mail a donation to FIDO's business address.
Direct your date request to Garry Osgood; phonetic email address = grosgood EMAIL-AT verizon.net.
There are three types of suggested donations: small at $10.00, medium at
$20.00 and large at $40.00. Slots for the $40.00 size are getting hard to place
in the calendar layout and may very well close very soon.
Big NOTE
Requested a FIDO Calendar Day? Haven't Made the Donation Yet?
Since these are penciled in requests, they may be trumped by people who request the same day and make a donation, or the month becomes crowded with people who have made donations. If you've requested a day but haven't made a donation, consider locking it in with one soon. The calendar is filling in fast.
Here's how to book space:
Do It Yourself
- Take your own digital picture, or digitize (print to
CD) your film pictures. There are some technical specifications you should follow. Sorry, we cannot
digitize film prints or slides for you.
- Pick a calendar picture size,
(small, medium, or large), with suggested donations of $10.00, $20.00 and
$40.00, respectively.
- Pick two or three preferred Calendar Days. First come, first served! Pick these as early as you can (why not today?). While there are three hundred sixty five days
in 2010, we are limited by available space to about
eighty to one hundred forty pictures per year,
depending on whether people, on the whole, buy smaller
or larger pictures.
- Send the suggested donation to
FIDO via the kind folks who run JustGive. Follow the steps you would normally take to join online. Where it says "Designate My Donation" enter: "FIDO
Calendar". Wait for their confirmation e-mail.
- Email a copy of your JustGive confirmation,
preferred dates, picture size, and the picture you
took in step one to "grosgood" at "verizon.net,"
the calendar coordinator.
- You will get a confirmation email from the calendar
coordinator that locks in your date, picture size and
position in the calendar.
- Do it all before midnight, the evening of
Saturday, August 01, 2009. Later submissions will be accepted only at the
discretion of the calendar coordinator (who has to
deliver material to the printer, PDQ, to meet a
September 05 deadline!)
Let FIDO Do It For You
- We recommend that you follow all the steps in Doing It Yourself except that you
don't take the picture. You will bring a printout of the calendar
coordinator's confirmation email with you to the park
along with your dog during one of the four FIDO
summer events:
- Friday, June 26, 2009 FIDO Pupnic, from 5:30 pm
to dusk (about 8:00 pm) in the Nethermead
- Saturday, July 11, 2009 Coffee Bark from
7:30 am to 8:30 am., Picnic House area
(not July 4th! We're away on the first Saturday
in July!).
- Saturday, August 1, 2009 Coffee Bark from 7:30 am
to 8:30 am, Picnic House area.
- If you haven't made online arrangements beforehand,
(See Step 1), we request that you bring cash or your
checkbook to cover the donation for a small ($10.00), medium ($20.00), or large ($40.00) photograph. We
cannot accept credit cards and can't issue IOUs.
- Find the calendar table. It will be near the usual coffee table.
- If you've made arrangements online (See Step 1),
all you need to learn from us is where the
photographers are working. Your printout of the
calendar coordinator's email is your
receipt. Once your dog is photographed, the
photographer will give you a shot number. Write
it down and bring it back to the calendar table
and make sure it is recorded there. The shot
number identifies your dog for the layout artist.
- If you have not made online arrangements
beforehand, tell the coordinators at the calendar
table your preferred dates, preferred picture
size, and make a donation (please!). You will get
a numbered receipt.
- Bring the receipt to the photographer. After the
photo shoot, the photographer will give you a shot
number. Write it down and bring it back to the
calendar table and make sure it is recorded
there. The shot number identifies your dog for the
layout artist.
- Whether or not you have made prior online
arrangements, we strongly recommend that you come as
early as possible. Don't leave it to end of the
shoot! During the Coffee Barks, the park people want
dogs on leash by 9:00 a.m., and — the truth be
told — we have our own dogs to get on leash,
and tables to fold up and cameras to put away and
other such stuff. Don't leave your picture request to
the last minute!
Fine Print
